No Pay Play…
I thrive on working toward a big goal, but it’s balanced with various fun-time pursuits. They offer needed diversions when I hit a no flow state in this self-proclaimed “job” of writing for which there is no pay and little recognition. I only want to write a sometimes funny, disastrous, challenging story in which my beloved characters falter and maybe flounder. I love helping them find their way out and up through the magic of words. But writers today must master the elusive publishing landscape and the ever-changing media platform or their words will disappear in the saturated written world. Internal or external blocks appear as I work on the business of writing until I feel like I’m pushing a 500-pound boulder up a slippery slope. Doing an about face toward a new challenge can boost my confidence, in all things. Creating any kind of beauty feeds my soul; nourishing and readying me for the next round of work. May your notice the times when stepping away from your big goal, even for a moment, is beneficial. Enjoy the no pay play of something different, fun and unrelated. You’ll be refreshed and better for it.
